One of the problems with combining wind into the flood policy is that the flood policy pays for DIRECT DAMAGE ONLY; there is no coverage for Additional Living Expenses as is provided under the Homeowners’ policy.

What a reduction in coverage for the insured.

I think they are suggesting that government intervention would be unduly burdensome on taxpayers. Just ask Florida.

Yes, Gill. Burdensome and by its nature, ineffective.

I’d be curious to find out how/why it took this political brain trust (Congress) so long to see the obvious.

The thought of an administration that advocates this kind of intervention-on even a larger scale-is frightening.

and the rest of the insurance community that supports a federal backstop for nat cats: the fact that you are doing this for your own self interests and not for the good of the country is becoming more evident to lawmakers every day. So, keep pouring money down that Protecting America rat hole, boys — you’d have better odds at the track.

Travelers, Nationwide and Hartford favor such coverage. After the effects of FAY on Florida are determind, a small premium increase for insuranc coverage will be better than the BILLIONS of Dollars that will be spent by insured Home and Mobile Home Owner in Florida and most likely Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi.

I have lived in Florida since 1957 and have NEVER seen so much wide spread damage, MOSTLY UN INSURED.
