I can’t say either candidate would shrink the government. They all seem to have this habit of letting it get bigger – or like Bush, forcing it to get bigger.

Hopefully they have a good record of all these tanks. I doubt they do, but one can hope. So many things were buried around the nation and around the globe during the Cold War that it will take a miracle to find them all. Pocket nukes, ammo, armor and other toys in Europe, tanks in America, more stuff everywhere else.

But on the bright side – they’re doing something about it now.

I’m shocked! Normally FEMA is a very efficient and well run agency that improves people’s lives and never wastes tax dollars. Just look at their response to Hurrican Katrina. Heckova job Brownie. Oh right! He’s gone now.

Who is the village idiot that wrote this article? This is some of the most irresponsible reporting I have ever seen. An attempt to bruise FEMA has lead to disinformation about steel tanks. They even found someone to say all steel tanks are leaking. That has been proven incorrect by every environmental board in the states and the federal EPA. Tanks are not the problem. A ongoing Florida study has shown that steel tanks proform slightly better than fiberglass tanks and both are a very minor contributor to leaks. 15 minutes of reasearch would have brought out these facts. A tank is only a small part of the system and is easy to blame by the uniformed. The associated press one would think is more professional than that. Evidently not!

Actually Charles, all tanks leak eventually. 100% of them will eventually leak. Whether the leak is significant enough to warrant repair or decomissioning is another matter. But the fact that all tanks eventually leak is why there are mandatory checks in place for storage tanks, and more stringent checks for underground tanks.
