How can you tell when the trial lawyers are lying? They are talking. Extortionists one and all. I know lots of good attorneys. None of them are in that group.
What else are the trial lawyers going to say? “Oh, yes I think tort reform and damage caps are good for the public. And I also think that the losing side (including the prosecuting attorney) should have to pay all court costs.”
Tort reform hurts their pockets, so they have to put out such drivel. Half truths are more dangerious than outright lies and they seemed to forget the quantitative and qualitative aspects of the study; some states that have high costs have only recently instituted reform and haven’t had time to see the benefits.
companies for all those ‘civil liberty violations’, maybe they’ll come back to earth and say they have too much wealth; volunteering tort reform to reduce their income…oh crap, guess that would just make them more hungry.
Good comments one & all! Still makes me laugh that the ATLA had to change their name to the American Assn for Justice (yeah, right!) just to hide their agenda.
Everyone hates trial lawyers until their kid is the one injured by a defective toy or their sister is killed by a drunk driver or their reputation is ruined by reckless allegations or their property values are eroded by a txic dump. Sure there are some outlandish settlements and some questionable suits by trial lawyers but the everyday reasonable settlements and responsible cases don’t make the news.
The coalition of foxes has reported today that putting a lock on the chicken coop does not work, is not effective, and should be stopped immediately. Yeah …… right.
Why would you compare Colorado to New Mexico in any context? I love NM don’t get me wrong, but Colorado has a much higher population, is more affluent, and has way more commerce. Of course you are going to have more litigation in Colorado than New Mexico. While you are at it why not compare Colorado to Wyoming, or South Dakota?

What would work is to put all the lawyers in a cage and throw away the key.
Need we say more about the plaintiff’s bar?
