Wow! $1MM for funeral and “other expenses”!! And $10MM for pain & suffering! All this for the parents of a 25 year old w/no apparent wife or children. I agree with CA Ex Pat, those people in Florida don’t have enough to occupy their time. Hugging the parents as they left the court??? I hope this is appealed & the judgement reduced.

Although entitled compensatory, the damages were clearly punitive for their past acts of concealing defects. Heck, Mitsubishi deserves it. Considering the company was a major producers of arms for the Japanese war machine in WWII, I have no sympathy.

“Any belt would have led to the same result,” said Graves, a managing partner in the Minneapolis office of Bowman and Brooke. “The cause of this death was the violence of this accident.” This guy was a passenger in the SUV that rolled multiple times. No passive restraint is 100% effective against all crashes. Seems everytime something happens, somebody wants money and always alleges somebody “should have done more”. The question is “how much more and what is the conuming public willing to pay for the less than 1% of these kinds of accidents?”

Strange it was filed in Palm Beach County. Jurors there are retired rich people. I’m sure the surviving parents needed the $11 million dollars.
