Let’s stop wasting billions of dollars rebuilding the homes of these idiots and simply prohibit building in coastal areas. I do not support subsidizing people just because they want to live by the water. It’s their right and if they can afford to live near the coast, they can afford to insure their property. Rate the exposure. It insurance is un-affordable, they can go self-insured, or simply build in a safer area.

I agree. They CHOOSE to live on the coast & then they claim the beach belongs them and it is not public property.

Now we’re expected to help them pay their insurance bills? Talk about public assistance. Total B.S.

No one would ever suggest carriers charge the same auto rates for a 16 yr old as a 40 yr old…why is this any different? If you can afford the nice ocean view, pony up on the ins. If you want me to help pay your ins premium, save me the month of May, ’cause that’s when I get my premium’s worth.

The idea that owners of high-risk coastal properties should receive tax cridits to offset their flood insurance primums makes my blood boil! This is just another presidential candidate, regardless of political affiliation, trying to score points. If there is anything the CA-wildfires and Hurricane Katrina should have taught us is that there is a exuberate number of people living in high-risk areas with little or no insurance. Unfortunately, our federal representatives appear only to be concerned with the financial wellbeing of a handful of their constituents and not with our nation’s interests or tax base.

This is not a tax credit for ‘natural disasters’ as stated in the headline or article. This is more subsidizing for only those affected by hurricanes. It’s a hurrican tax credit. I live in the mid-west, and and am exposed to tornados. Where is my tax credit?
