Jeremy Bowler,Many of Amica’s clients have never been with another carrier as with USAA;As an Independent I have replaced many Amica policies for dissatisfied Amica clients. Perhaps they should do some screening of those who left. They might find the correct story.Last advice at many of these company is in short supply as they control expenses,Whats a rider or they never told me that are common responses for ex-clients you #1 choice.
all the more reason not to use a direct writer, we replace liberty mutual policies pretty regularly, price helps but mostly the direct writer mentality of “maximum premium for minimum coverage” it was help us show the client how “great” there lower cost policy realy is with amica and other direct writers.
Doesn’t JD Powers have a pretty good rep for reasonably good statistical analysis? Maybe I’m not “getting the gist of this article”, but most of my clients don’t care that their auto, home and toys are insured with the same company or different companies. However, they DO CARE that I have written all those policies! Most of my auto carriers grant a “homeownership” discount whether they insure the home or not. Some homeowners carriers do have a home/flood discount. However, what I DO agree with, as an Independent Agent, is the more policies I have with a family, the less likely they are to be an E&O exposure (not disclosing home additions, for example) and the more loyal they are to my agency. Not to mention, multiple policies make ME a better agent because I know more about the “true” exposures my clients face and can guide them accordingly.
In Florida, EVERYTHING is now mono-line! Just today I wrote a dwelling fire policy for a gentleman who is 88; the fabled USAA had non-renewed his coverage. Can’t do anything about his HO-4, also with USAA, also non-renewed, as he’s now in assisted living, more’s the pity. I can’t think of a single company that is writing new biz for both auto AND homeowners. There might be one or two, but I doubt it. It is no surprise that when folks turn to “do it yourself” insurance via the internet they are “surprised” at claims time. The lowest price isn’t always the lowest cost!
