Wow and all this time I thought it was the jury (we the people) that let Simpson walk. I guess it is really the judges that make the ruling and not the jury. I learn something everyday…

Did you watch ‘Judge’Ito turn that trial into the joke it was? Had there been a competent judge, Simpson would never have walked. The judge was more responsible for that miscarriage of justice than the jurors. The jurors followed his lead. This is exactly what I meant.

It has always appeared the attorneys in such cases are the clear financial winners. Perhaps I will modify my thinking just a little bit. Proof crime does not pay or usually does not pay or only pays for a while.

You’re a bit premature in changing your opinion. These guys are too old to give a damn about the charges. They’ve made their money, lived the good life, and IF and WHEN the long arm of the law grabs them, it will be too late to make a difference. Let’s wait and see if the charges actually stick. My money’s on the slick lawyers and their colleagues who will find a way to make this “go away”. I was shocked they entered a “not guilty” plea. (NOT) I can’t remember when anybody had the decency and courage to plead “guilty” to anything. In some jurisdictions, perps are not allowed to entry a “guilty” plea at a preliminary hearing. Our legal system is badly flawed and getting worse everyday.

You are so right that our legal system is flawed and getting worse. Just think about this for a minute-all judges MUST be lawyers first and the legal profession is the most perverse, crooked, and shady occupation in America. They do not seek the truth and justice of lawyers of yesteryear. They are protectors of OJ Simpson and his rights. Most lawyers are of the type caught in this story-power hungry and money hungry. And the real trajedy is that we citizens let them get away with it. We no longer have the power to stop them because all the politicians who could make a difference are attorneys also. Every aspect of American life is ruled and controlled by attorneys and if you are not one of them you are their inferiors and not worthy of respect. Try talking to a lawyer at a social event and see what happens.

How about getting Elliot in the picture, then he can look REALLY good to his constituents ’cause he prosecuted some attorneys! What say you?

Let’s see-Spitzer is a lawyer, first, foremost, and always, and he became a politician with no respect for anyone other than fellow lawyers. He is now a top politician and is eligible for judgeship when he is termed out as a politician. Bingo!

As an addendum to my last post: If you doubt that Elliot will not be offered a judgeship consider this. He has been a champion of the people(his PR people) and he will look out for the little guy and see to it that they be treated fairly and without prejudice. He will make sure justice is served just as he did as governor and attorney general. His credentials are impeccible and no one will be able to speak out and say what really happened because lawyers blow a mighty smokescreen.

I agree; from the start that trial was about “hollywood”, the TV exposure, with everyone involved getting their 15 minutes of fame, from the detectives, the attorneys, the jurors, the judges, the bailiffs, the sheriff’s deputies….they all tried to cash in. I for one never had any doubt that it would be “not guilty”, that would have been too unpopular and everyone would have had to just go back into the dull lives they lived before the trial. Think about it, who would have cared if the verdict was guilty? It happens all the time, the perp goes to jail, end of story. But with the not guilty verdict, everyone gets to stay in the limelight a little longer, to pad their incomes etc. wiht book deals and film rights…..a travesty…

Why is everyone quick to judge the accused. It seems people believe what they hear on the news and read on the internet without hearing the full story (which is a shame). The media can control how and what information is given to the public and therefore, whomever is providing the information will only provide you their version of events. I believe our justice system works most of the time (occasionaly there are mistakes as with any system). Let’s wait and see what a jury who hears all the evidenc say before we judge these people.
