Now I know it’s true – there are aliens among us. The Federal Emergency Management Agency is actually drawing up plans on how to manage real emergencies? They’re helping the states? Work that might mean something is getting done? I can’t stop typing like Rumsfeld speaks?

This is the best thing I’ve heard out of FEMA ever. I only hope the plans are any good.

Kudos to FEMA. They must have some scouts working with them who know how to “Be Prepared”.

Thank goodness this is finally being done, where in the hell was the Clinton administration on this? Thank God for President Bush!

    Hawaii Duke please!

Who cares about the Clinton admin? It’s easy to blame someone that left office what seven years ago? This is just a campaign ploy for the Republicans to make them look good AFTER THE FACT! Hindsight is always twenty-twenty when over a thousand lives were lost due to Katrina. Ask me if I’m still pissed about it? Heck yeah I am! It took three days for food to get to Nola. With this little plan, I will believe it when I see it – other than that I could care less. I am waiting to actually be impressed.

Disasters are not political and being prepared for them should not be either. Lets hope these are real and good plans, not just politics.

Sorry HawaiiDuke888, this has nothing to do with Bush. It also has nothing to do with Clinton. From the sounds of it it’s somebody who is not a political appointee finally doing their job. For all we know the seeds of this could have been planted during the Clinton era – or Bush I, Reagan, Carter, Ford… It takes so long to get the government to do anything you never know who started it.

I would like to know the reasoning for spending $1 mil for plans for the Bay Area and $17 mil for St. Louis.

The blame should go to no one unless you blame people who live BELOW SEA LEVEL or people that live in areas that WILL HAVE HURRICANES. or Earthquakes. I live in the mid-west and we have stocked water, food and money in case of emergency…..I don’t know how long we could last, but we ARE NOT DEPENDING ON THE GOVERNMENT TO BAIL US OUT ! Quake, no where does it say they are spending $17 million on St Louis. The $17 million is for the “New Madrid fault, which runs from southern Illinois to northeastern Arkansas” This covers a little more area than San Francisco.

Saints Fan, Please tell me that you left the area during Katrina, there was plenty of warning and it was rather obvious that there would be problems, don’t blame Bush, Clinton or anyone else if you stayed, you were warned.
