As in Trial and Error or just “something you thought you’d try!”
I know that Trail Rated is a Jeep Registered Trade Marked term that means a vehicle has been tested and meets 5 off-road criteria, including clearence, manuverability etc…
Hey Four By – I never knew exactly what that Trail Rated meant, or who established the rating criteria.
I always thought there was some sort of group or organization that certified Trail Ratings – now I’m learning that’s just a marketing gimmick? Boy the way the dealer is all posted-up on that claim, I though it was legitimate.
I guess the brakes aren’t one of the criteria – whoever set them.
Thanks for the link, Four By – guess I should have known.
I tell you I could never figure out how Subaru could claim they the Outback was the Worlds’ first Sport Utility Wagon – I had an Eagle 4×4 that was nearly a station wagon on top of a Jeep chassis – same running gear – it’s too bad Chrysler doesn’t go after Subaru for that one.
You would think that one of the “big three” automakers and the maker of the famous Jeep vehicle would have brake design and production perfected by now. It’s 2007 and they can’t get one of the basis systems on a vehicle right? This another example of why they’re failing.

Seems to me that brakes are important. Especially when doing 57 MPH up a 44 degree incline with a boat on a trailer behind my Jeep.
Maybe if the brakes were better I could launch the boat right through my seatback and into the stratosphere.
Gotta try that one!
