If you have an adopted pet from a shelter, or another pet whose purchase price new was less than $500.00, and it it suffers fatal injuries in an accident, would Progressive automatically pay $500.00, or would they pay you the LKQ price of $50.00 (shots only)?
What if the animal survives, but the medical bills are $400 or so, and the replacement cost of a half-breed is less than $100.00? Would they pay $100 or $400? In other words, would the animal be considered a total loss?
I can’t decide which of my pets is worth the most but I do know they are worth at least $5000 each. Of more interest is how the value will be determined. Was the injured animal a purebred and was it nuetered. If an adjuster ever thought determining the value of an auto was tough in the mind of the claimant here is a new level of negotiation. Will replacement animals be offered? There simply isn’t enough space to pen all of my thoughts. Foolish me as I thought we were in a soft market. We must be in a REALLY soft market. This is the type of stuff that I think would best be announced on an April 1st.
This is a smart marketing ploy, how often will an animal be hurt in a car accident? And then they only pay $500? Thats nothing compaired to the pub they will get.
Great, now I can get paid for that damn cat with a death grip on the back of my neck in the car taking her to the vet & I run into a tree ’cause I am in so much pain & can’t see. What will they think of next?
