This is a ridiculous game being played by the Director. The National Hurricane Center has always done a fine job of forecasing hurricanes. What else is it expected to do? How many employees are required to perform that function? Giving it even more money doesn’t improve the outcomes or the services it renders to the public. Maybe the probe will find out that the NHC has too many people on the payroll who don’t add value. I agree that a functional satellite link is essential, but after that, the procedures for tracking are well-established.
