I believe the oil companies are taking advantage of the hurricanes that occurred in the Gulf 2 years ago. Oil companies claim that the increase in gas price is due to their losses due to hurricane damage and PREP for the upcoming season. That is bull, there is no warrant for the gas prices that oil companies are charging – it is purely greed! Oil companies know we are at their mercy – how can a poor working stiff get to work without putting gas in their vehicle to get there. Consumers need to band together and retaliate.
Get real Poor Consumer! The oil companies make 8 to 12 cents per gallon of gas. Your federal and local governments tax the living daylights out of you at the rate of 40 cents plus per gallon. Stop whining and yell at your senators, representatives and governor to cut the gas taxes. Buy a smaller car. Drive less. Carpool. Ride the bus. Just place the blame where it belongs.
I disagree that oil companies make only 8 to 12 cents per gallon. They are making BILLIONS in profit – that should say something. Also, I agree that consumers are being taxed out of the ying-yang by our government. I do drive a small car – if I get a smaller car it would have to be a Tonka toy. I just think consumers are doing nothing to fight back – we are just bending over and taking it up the xxxx.
The 8 to 12 cents per gallon profit is well documented and not just a number pulled out of the air. The oil companies make billions because they sell squillions of gallons of gasoline. The government makes way more off each gasoline sale than the oil companies.
With China and India using more and more fuel and with the green weenies blocking the construction of new refineries and domestic drilling, gas prices will continue to soar.
Every year the libs launch some kind of investigation into oil company price gouging and find no wrong doing. Supply and demand is at work here, not some dark conspiracy to defraud the public of their hard earned money. That\’s the government\’s job after all.
Like almost all conservatives I support the development of alternative energy sources and the sensible use of the sources we have right now. I also own oil company stock so I can share in the profits they make.
