New Firm, Claimetrics, Promises New Age in Claims Management

A group of industry experts announced today the launching of Claimetrics, a claims management company focused on measurable results, at this week’s Risk and Insurance Management Society in New Orleans.

The founders maintain the launch “marks the beginning of a new age of reform and change in the industry” because the firm measures claims success in a new way.

“We are a disruptive force in the industry,” said Barry Bloom, president and chief operating officer of Claimetrics, and a proponent of using metrics in analyzing claims data. “For decades, the focus has been on the process of managing a claim. That’s not our standard. Our goal is the result, to efficiently resolve a claim, to positively impact the health and productivity of the workforce, and to lower total costs to the employer. Those are measurable, provable results. And we’ll prove them to our clients every day.”

Marshall Snipes, CEO, said the leadership team of Claimetrics has been brought together by a “common belief that the old ways of doing business needed reform” in a changing business environment. “Our industry is, frankly, stuck in the legacy systems of the past. At Claimetrics, we were able to construct new, innovative systems to meet the demands of a new business world,” he said.

Bloom has 28 years of experience. As a senior executive at Sedgwick CMS, Inc., and the national practice leader for claim consulting, at AON, Bloom has specialized in workers’ compensation, liability and non-occupational disability claims administration and integrated clinical managed care.

Snipes brings 35 years of experience from a broad base of industries including insurance, oil and gas, investment banking and public accounting. Snipes served as CEO of Hallmark Management, LLC, a regional workers’ compensation third party administrator. He is a former partner in KPMG Peat Marwick.

The Claimetrics leadership team also includes Leigh Stepan, senior vice president, national workers compensation practice leader and director of operations. Stepan has more than two decades of experience in the insurance and third party administration industries. She was previously the claims manager for Target Corp. Stepan has also held several positions at Sedgwick CMS.

Mark A. Kania, senior vice president, national liability practice leader, is a former practice leader for Sedgwick CMS and has been responsible for delivery of claims services on all lines, including product liability, general liability, auto liability and workers’ compensation in the United States, Europe and Asia.

Patti Rossman, senior vice president, national absence management practice leader, has more than two decades of experience in the design, implementation and outcome evaluation of integrated absence management and medical management programs and practices. Formerly with AON, Rossman has provided customized occupational health solutions for Fortune 500 companies. She is a Certified Occupational Health Nurse Specialist and a Certified Professional in Disability Management.

The chief medical officer of Claimetrics is Michael Dillingham, M.D. Dillingham is the physician for the San Francisco 49ers, and is the co-founder of the Sports Orthopedic and Rehabilitation medical practice.
