Coal Industry Urged to Build New ‘Culture of Prevention’

    I think the safety record is terrible. Each miner should be required to carry a napsack with food, snacks, and extra sox and underwear in case they get trapt. This way they could last that much longer for help to arrive. pLus a cell phone to call for help or a laptop computer to write to thier family. This should all be reqwuired to be carried in a napsack by each person that goes down there for any length of time.

    Our U.S. \”culture\” is to sue corporations blind, seize their assets and send the jobs off shore. So coal mines will go on complyhing with government rules, insurance regulations, and consultant recommendations…. and being sued anyway when the workman\’s comp runs out or isn\’t big enough. Then they\’ll seal up the coal, close their doors and move on. That\’s how WE do it. They can\’t change UNTIL we change.
