Would you believe this if this was markers? My cousin (same age as I – now 42) started smoking as her grandmother laid in the hospital with tubes and oxygen tent for emphazema (sp?). When I asked her why, we were 14 then, she said it helped her with the stress of seeing her gma in the hospital…how stupid is that? When those things put her there in the first place and my cousin, Suzie, knew it. Again…stupid.
In reading about the case, I was happy to see that Oregon distributes at least part of the punitive damages award to worthwhile organizations. Unfortunately, I assume the lawyers still get their cut off the top.
