So don\’t give me this **** that helmets are not necessary. If you can train all the cage drivers to see bikers, I want to
talk to you about getting me a personal interview with GOD.

Your reading skills indicate why we didn\’t see you at the last MENSA meeting. Show us where we said \”helmets are not necessary\” (other than quoting you) and we will donate $1,000 to the charity of your choice.

    Cager 1 says:

It\’s interesting the blame put on automobiles. I see 99% of all motorcycles significantly exceeding the speed limit and not paying attention to the traffic lanes-riding between cars.

    LdrLongDistanceRider.com Says:

Your statistic is an absolute fabrication, which brings your overall integrity into question. Show us ANY statistics from a reliable source proving \”99% of motorcyclists significantly exceed the
speed limit\”, and we will donate $1,000 to the charity of your choice.

    1. Check the statistics for people who die falling in the bathtub.

    2. Learn how to spell \”Helmet\” before calling somwone stupid. rc

Do the research then get back to me.
The only thing I have to prove is that I can avoid some cager that is trying to kill me while on a cell phone eating a burger or yelling at their kids. Hmmm let me see, I thinnk the research bears that out……rc

I had the same experience as your brother. I lost a leg, but I am alive because my helmet hit the truck that backed out in front of me rather than hitting my head. The absolute freedom demanded by the anti-helmet riders is the real fraud here.

HELMETS ARE NOT THE KEY ISSUE:

90% of all motorcycle fatalities occur on undivided roads, where automobile drivers can most easily violate the right-of-way of motorcyclists.

75% of all motorcycle accidents involve another motor vehicle.

66% of all multi-vehicular motorcycle accidents are caused by motorists failing to yield the right-of-way to motorcycles.

50% of all motorcycle accidents are caused by the inattentional blindness of automobile drivers.

The most important aspect of motorcycle safety is CRASH PREVENTION, not CRASH SURVIVAL. And the greatest single challenge is not helmets or helmet laws … it is the negligence, distraction and inattentional blindness of automobile drivers!

Interesting comment posted regarding helmets verus \”the other driver\”. First,my 54 year old brother just lost his lower left leg due to an accident. If he had not had on his helment he would have been killed instantly. Fortunately the helmet took the brunt of the head slam. He did have a huge spot on his forehead but after 4 x-rays the doctor\’s were convinced the injury was not life threatening.
The bike did go down slid about 100 feet with his leg pinned between the pavement and the Harley Heritage grinding of his foot. so much for heavy Harley boots!!

So don\’t give me this **** that helmets are not necessary. If you can train all the cage drivers to see bikers, I want to talk to you about getting me a personal interview with GOD.

Let people be accountable for their own risks! Wear a helmet and stop boozing before biking and you have a better shot at riding again another day. When driving a motorcycle, act like a car and do the speed limit and stay in your lane and stop pulling up along side cars or going in between cars like the previous post says. Be safe and live!

The cause of the accident has little to do with the survival rate (other than alcohol), but helmets obviously do. I am an insurance agent, defensive driving instructor, former EMT and maybe more importantly ride a 1100 CC cruiser, and wouldn\’t leave the driveway without a helmet. If you don\’t care about yourself, or your loved ones maybe you should be concerned with the economic impact. It can\’t be long before insurance carriers either refuse to pay out on claims for helmetless riders, or at the very least jack rates through the roof in states that allow this insanity. Seatbelts and helmets save lives – its a fact, and it SHOULD be the law!
