The first idea that comes to my mind is that the government (Federal+States\’) should have for its own purposes (if it hasn\’t already!) a stand-by system that should cater for their immediate needs, under the same encoding and systems that the public Internet has, with enough bandwidth as necessary to support without much trouble at least 80% of the current government needs for internal communication, and about the same percentage of the external. How would this affect budget I wouldn\’t dare to say but a minimum fraction of that for EWS and, coming to think of it, could even be included in EWS\’ accounts. Privately owned cos and other non-gov, perhaps can be aceppted in it if bandwidth is increased and a separate \”highway\” is reserved for them at cost that might be included in taxes.

Argie, since when are you so interested anyway? Youve thought about this way too much, that is suspicious.

The question, Mr Amov, is rather whether you will think about what you should do to be prepared in the event of a national emergency or wait until the arabs go for you. If you can only suspect and fool around you\’ll not be surprised if you hear someone knocking at your door before the blast rattles the whole block. That\’s why I\’d suggest you to think proactively and not the way you did so far. Regards
