They don\’t have stockholders to answer to, and they\’re owned by a foreign company that has bigger fish to fry. Did I miss anything?

Yes, failed to say both of these companies suck and that Zurich is doing a terrible job of managing Farmers Insurance. :-)

Why are smaller Zurich independent agents having to put up with this bull? If anyone should \”pay\” it should be the BoZo\’s who were doing the wrong..bid rigging and the rest! I understand that the Zurich won\’t even be able to show the actual commission to be paid to the agent- just the \”standard- highest\” they might pay their agents. Translation: even though they pay me only 10% on a FI Bond the disclosure issued by their computer will show 15% because that\’s the highest commish they will pay and they\’ve complied with mandated disclosure…. I earn every penny of my comish and I don\’t like these companies leveraging their compliance onto me! Now I have to explain to the client that this is totally out of whack, not to mention incorrect just for the sake of that buzz word transparency…give me a break !

As an agent if you have any options other than Zurich why even bother with them. There consistent marketing pattern is geared toward large accounts and large brokers. Most marketing efforts are geared toward this target marketing. If you fall outside this target then the only reason you are even approaching Zurich is because there are no better options.

This marketing strategy is questionable. With more and more start ups and a consistent patter of profitablity on smaller accounts the regionals and niche carriers are going to do a lot better that the carriers only targeting large accounts.

As an agent you will always be bettter offer going with a carrier that targets this small to mid sized business.

You must not be familiar with the entire Zurich product line. They have a very competitive small biz unit, but I use them for Financial Institutions – one of the better markets with ggod people in the ranks; it\’s just the BoZos at top management….all Rodney Dangerfields…they can\’t get any of my respect. However, you are correct- agents will go to the markets that treat them & their clients the best. Period.
