Agents Back House Bill on ‘Financial Data Protection Act’

    By pre-empting stronger state regulations, this bill will weaken consumer protection for many consumers.

    Unless Congress is willing to pass a law similar to the laws in California and other states that really protect consumers, Congress should not prevent states from adopting consumer protection legislation.

    We should remember that Independent Agents are not only insurance agents, but they and their families are consumers, with personal data that needs protection.

    We must work to defeat this bad bill.
