Now that that\’s out of the way, let\’s focus on legislation that will fix the root of the problem. Let\’s require that a plaintiff acutally have some sort of injury. And require that the venue actually have some relevence to either the plaintiff or defendant. If the courts had been doing these common sense things all along, we probably wouldn\’t be in this crisis now.

Wonder how Haliburton and its subsidiaries would have come out under the fund?

Yeah, it\’s that evil Dick Cheney\’s fault that taxpayers won\’t be bailing out asbestos mines.

I\’d rather hunt with Dick Cheney than ride with Ted Kennedy.

It\’s amazing how much influece Cheney has over the authors of the bill, Arlen Specter and Pat Leahy. I\’m sure those 2 conservatives bent over backwards to make it a sweet deal for Haliburton.

Two conservatives? Are you kidding? Leahy is a lying commie and Specter is a RINO – Republican In Name Only.

The purpose of this bill is to ensure that people who have asbestosis can get paid because so many lawsuits have been filed that the companies are kaput. Last time I looked, Haliburton was still in business.

I ground unknown dozens of asbestos gaskets off of valves and traps in my day and have no ill effects to my lungs, despite having spent hours standing in asbestos dust. If I wanted to I could file and get in line for my handout, but I am not a theif like many who have profited from this ridiculous situation.

Had not every Tom Dick and Ned been in line for a freebie maybe these companies would still be around and this whole boondogle woulda never been.

I didn\’t say there were no legitimate cases. What I\’m saying is there are a lot of frauds. And all the frauds not only hurt the companies but also hurt the chances of the truly injured to be fairly compensated. Had judges and juries exercised common sense all along, we wouldn\’t have such a crisis today.
