    My local paper, the Daily Herald, in the business section had a headline that was negative, stating that Katrina caused Allstate to have its biggest loss as a publicly traded company. Strong quarter? Maybe strong losses is more like it…Perhaps this article was written by an Allstate PR person. Here is the link to the article if you are interested:

    Not sure about the headline here. Allstate’s third quarter combined was 149%. Article shows profits prior to cat impact of 3 billion.

    I guess it’s strong excluding CATs.
