CNA, NFSI Partner to Reduce Slip-and-Fall Accidents

CNA and the National Floor Safety Institute (NFSI) have joined forces to develop an approach to help reduce costly slip-and-fall accidents.

Together, CNA and the NFSI have developed a comprehensive half-day training program that will be delivered through CNA’s “School of Risk Control Excellence” and cover both the causes, as well as techniques, to help prevent slip, trip-and-fall accidents.

Upon completion of the program – based on Russell Kendzior’s book, Slip-and-Fall Prevention Made Easy – attendees will receive NFSI certification in slip-and-fall accident prevention. CNA’s goal is that this single-subject training program will lead to greater claims reductions.

According to the National Safety Council, each year, more than eight million people – most of whom are elderly — seek emergency room treatment for accidental falls. Costing more than $60 billion annually, falls are the most common type of injury facing the nation’s elderly.

By focusing on slip-and-fall accident prevention, both CNA and the NFSI believe that the growing tide of slip-and-fall accidents will soon turn.
