The Hartford Offering Quick Claim Payment Solutions for Victims of Katrina

The devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina has forced many people from their homes, but postal interruptions or damage to area banks have sometimes separated them from their money as well.

To promptly help those personal and business policyholders who’ve been impacted by Hurricane Katrina, The Hartford Financial Services
Group Inc. is now offering new claim payment access option to meet customers’ needs.

For Katrina policyholders with access to a bank but not mail, The Hartford has created a new way to access their claim payments called Claim Direct Deposit. By simply providing a bank account and bank routing numbers, The Hartford will electronically deposit customer’s claim payment directly into their bank account. Claim representatives will help Katrina customers find out if they qualify for Claim Direct Deposit.

“The disruptions of Hurricane Katrina brought new challenges for getting payments to our policyholders so they can start rebuilding their lives. Our team of experts quickly pulled together and created an innovative way to give customers access to their money when they most need it,” said Cal Hudson, The Hartford’s executive vice president for Property & Casualty Claim. “This solution complements our other efforts underway to respond to our customers.”

The Hartford’s team of adjusters is continuing to process the claims of
customers affected by the storm. In addition, The Hartford will continue to insure life, disability, homeowners, automobile and commercial insurance customers hardest hit by Katrina in the event that they are temporarily unable to make their insurance payments.
