Excess Lines Claims Annual Conference Sept. 21-24

The Excess Surplus Lines Claims Association has announced that its 36th annual meeting will be held Sept. 21-24, 2005, at the Hyatt Regency Tamaya Resort & Spa in Santa Ana Pueblo, New Mexico.

“Among our major topics for this conference,” said James McNamara, president, “are discussions about homeland security and the impact of terrorism on corporate officers and directors, the impact of the recent reforms to California workers’ compensation system, the effect of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act and e-mail evidence, sexual harassment/workplace violence, asbestos bankruptcy, and insolvency in the United Kingdom vs. the United States.”

More than 250 executives from major national and international insurers have registered to attend.

In addition to the above-mentioned topics, the conference will address three additional issues: “The Inside Scoop on Covering the Insurance Industry: A Reporter’s Perspective,” by Theo Francis from the Wall Street Journal; “Managing Outside Counsel to Maximize Your Success,” by John D. Cole, Of Counsel, Wiley, Rein & Fielding, LLP.; and “What’s Keeping Your CEO Awake at Night?,” by Robert Hartwig, Ph.D, senior vice president and chief economist, Insurance Information Institute.
