I see a poor memory of last year in Miami-Dade county, preparedness seems at a low ebb in spite of the predictions. Maybe the way this county had so many near misses has a reverse effect on people?
I would think that if folks had to volunteer for disaster clean up or recovery, they would have a lifelong impression. Also being a homeowner makes a difference. If you don’t have a vested interest in your property, you tend to care less.
