    While accurate, the article could have gone a step further and mentioned the availability of a personal umbrella policy to complement the basic homeowners policy liability limit.

    Additionally, in some jurisdictions, the dog owner can be held liable for “double damages” (sometimes treble damages) if they have knowledge of a prior bite but choose to keep the dog regardless. The court simply doubles the jury verdict.
