AMECO Marks 10 Million Safe Work Hours

AMECO, the fleet management and construction support unit of Fluor Corp., announced that its global workforce of nearly 1,300 employees has worked 10 million safe work hours from March 2001 through the present, with no lost-time injuries.

“Working 10 million hours without a lost-time injury is a tremendous
achievement for any company,” said Larry Gibbs, AMECO’s health, safety, and environmental director. “More than any other type of achievement, a milestone such as this is accomplished by every employee’s dedication. This is truly an employee’s safety award.”

Following are some of AMECO’s safety milestones from 2004:

* Puerto Rico operations marked more than 35 years without a lost-time injury.

* Borger operations center in Texas worked nine years (425,000 hours) with no lost-time injuries and is AMECO’s first OSHA Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Site.

* The Tyler operations team in Texas celebrated 20 years without a lost-time injury.

* Houston operations has achieved 750,000 hours (1997 through the present) without a lost-time incident.
