    The tip about insulating pipes on exterior walls is somewhat off the mark.

    You want to make sure there is plenty of insulation between the exterior wall(cold side) and the pipe. It is not helpful to have insulation between the pipe and the interior walls(warm side) however. If you do that the pipe will not get enough heat from the interior of the building to keep from freezing.
