BASF Introduces ‘Refinish Principles for Insurers’ Workshop

September 2, 2004

BASF has introduced a new workshop to help insurance company representatives understand the automotive refinish process. The one-day interactive “Refinish Principles for Insurers” workshop teaches participants about the coating products, systems and procedures used by collision repair technicians to make high-quality paint repairs.

The workshop is designed for insurance company professionals, including adjusters and managers, that work with collision repair facilities to help vehicle owners obtain satisfactory repairs to their damaged vehicles. The workshop covers topics of interest to insurance companies, including:

§ The most appropriate refinish products and procedures to prepare a vehicle for refinishing.
§ The types of coatings materials needed to achieve maximum adhesion and durability.
§ Appropriate blending techniques to insure a durable, undetectable and warrantable finish repair.

Participants that successfully complete the workshop will earn one BASF Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit for each hour of training, up to eight CEUs. These CEUs help meet insurance companies’ continuing education requirements.

The workshop is available on request through BASF training instructors and through qualified personnel at selected collision repair shops. Insurance company employees requesting workshops at BASF training centers, as well as shops interested in qualifying to teach the workshop, should contact BASF at (800) 825-3000.

The cost of the workshop is $100 at BASF Training Centers. There is no charge for the workshop when taken at a qualified collision repair center. There is a $5 fee for every CEU, not to exceed $100 annually. Additional information about this workshop and other BASF training is available at www.basfrefinish.com.
