CSC Expands BPO Relationship with Clarendon

July 1, 2004

California’s Computer Sciences Corporation announced that Insurance Corporation of Hannover (ICH), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Clarendon Insurance Group Inc. (CIGI), a Hannover Re company, has chosen the company and Virtual In Processing (VIP) Services, another CIGI subsidiary, to provide back-office business process outsourcing (BPO) services.

“Under the six-year agreement, CSC and VIP will provide complete point-of-service and information technology (IT) support for four of ICH’s niche market insurance programs and as-needed support, including statistical and regulatory reporting, for 16 other ICH programs,” said the bulletin.

CSC noted that it “is already in the second year of a separate six-year BPO contract with CIGI, which is the leader in insurance program business within the United States, supporting CIGI’s New York non-standard automobile insurance business. Under the new outsourcing contract, CSC and VIP will support ICH’s program business, providing policy administration, bureau and management reporting, infrastructure support and agency bill processing.”

“ICH needed a flexible system to provide timely and accurate data,” noted Linda Philipps, COO of VIP Services. “This new BPO agreement should help to reduce ICH’s costs, inaccuracies and headaches so that CIGI can meet its return on equity objectives.”

“We’re confident CSC and VIP together can process ICH’s large, existing line of business transactions efficiently, improve its processes and satisfy its customers today and tomorrow,” stated Ray August, president of the P&C Insurance division of CSC’s Financial Services Group. “CSC’s established relationship with VIP proves that we can deliver software and services focused on Clarendon’s business objectives and tailored to VIP’s processing needs.”
