PCI Launches Public Campaign For TRIA Extension

June 30, 2004

The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America, in conjunction with other industry trade groups, commercial insurance buyers and business organizations, announced that it has launched “a national public affairs campaign designed to raise awareness of the impending expiration of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) and generate support among public policy makers for a two year extension of the program.”

PCI said it is “proactively contacting news organizations that cover industries affected by terrorism risk. These include insurance, transportation, energy, real estate, hospitality, agriculture, construction, banking and others.

“The association is providing reporters and editors, as well as state legislators, state regulators, and members of Congress, with background materials on TRIA and the impact that uncertainty over its extension will have on American businesses and the U.S. economy.”

For more information on the effort to extend TRIA, please contact Joseph Annotti, vice president, public affairs, 847-553-3604, joseph.annotti@pciaa.net.
