MedLearn, Appeal Solutions Partner to Address Insurance Claim Denials

June 29, 2004

Medical Learning Inc., (MedLearn) and Appeal Solutions Inc., have reached an agreement to jointly address the growing issue of medical claim denials by insurance carriers.

Effective immediately, MedLearn will offer medical facilities an
electronic compilation of appeal letter templates, developed by Appeal
Solutions. In addition, a MedLearn audio conference entitled “Using Appeal Letters to Turn Denials into Dollars” has been scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 25; the presenter will be Tammy Tipton, Appeal Solutions president.

“Through no fault of their own, healthcare organizations routinely forego substantial revenues due to insurance claim denials,” Tipton said. “Recent studies indicate that up to 90 percent of denials can be overturned with well-written appeals. Unfortunately, many providers do not have the resources or time to pursue appeals as aggressively as they would like.”

Offered on computer CD, the medical appeal letters cite federal and state statutes in support of the medical provider’s position. Users simply insert variable data, such as patient name, insurance policy number and total charges, before sending the letter to the insurance carrier. Each state-specific CD contains a minimum of 50 letters addressing a broad spectrum of denial categories.
