Ford should be commended for getting the first 4WD SUV Hybrid on the market in the USA in the Escape bodystyle. Although not the highest crash rating, I hope your article does not deter consumers from considering this breakthrough vehicle. I also would point out that the Toyota Prius also failed to earn the highest crash testing rating when launched in the USA.

I was a little shocked by this report. I have been helping a friend shop for a new vehicle. After taking several for test drives I really liked the Escape because it can perform all the daily tasks he needs to do perfectly and economically. I am a bit unnerved that the salesman at the dealership told me it had a 5 star safety rating overall.
I still think the Escape is a great vehicle. With the Hybrid coming soon I feel the Escape will remain one of the top sellers. After reading the crash tests of a few others I don’t feel the Escape is the worst you can do when searching for a safe vehicle. I as well hope this report doesn’t deter possible buyers.
