PCI Welcomes Three New Member Companies

May 6, 2004

The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America announced that Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Company, American Vehicle Insurance Company, and Federal National Insurance Company have joined the association.

The bulletin gave the following details concerning the new members.

Farmers Union Mutual Insurance Company is a single-state, multi-line insurer underwriting personal, farm and commercial property and casualty coverage for risks located in Montana. Business is split evenly between homeowners/farmowners policies and commercial lines accounts. The company wrote over $20 million in direct written premium in 2003.

“We are pleased to be a PCI member,” stated Larry Trainor, Farmers president and CEO. “The association is a good match because we can share ideas and information with hundreds of other single-state writers, as well as larger companies that conduct business across the country. Plus, the prestige and political power that come from being a member of PCI only enhance our ability to influence public policy in Montana.”

American Vehicle Insurance Company and Federated National Insurance Company write $65 million in homeowners and automobile direct written premium in Florida. Richard Widdicombe is the chief executive officer of both companies.

He observed that “Florida can be a complicated state in which to do business. PCI keeps us abreast of the latest regulatory and legislative developments to ensure that we are in full compliance with the states statutes and rules. The association is an invaluable resource to growing companies like ours.”

“We are proud to have these fine companies in the association,” stated Jack Ramirez, PCI president. “They add to the diversity of the organization, which in turn strengthens our political efforts because public policy makers know that when PCI speaks out on an issue, we represent a true cross-section of property/casualty insurers.”
