Six Years Running, CNA to Present Fresenius Medical Care with National Safety Award

April 9, 2004

For the sixth consecutive year, the Risk Management Unit of CNA insurance companies will present its Safety in Excellence Award to Fresenius Medical Care North America (FMCNA), the North American subsidiary of Fresenius Medical Care AG.

CNA’s award acknowledges a company’s national leadership and dedicated commitment to employee health, safety, and loss prevention. For six consecutive years, FMCNA has demonstrated significant reductions in employee injury rates. To date, FMCNA is CNA’s first insured to achieve this accomplishment.

An award presentation is scheduled for Thursday, April 29, at the Fresenius Medical Care North America headquarters in Lexington, Mass. Dan Schmitt, CNA vice president and managing director will present the award.

“This was an especially significant year for Fresenius Medical Care North America,” said Schmitt. “Not only does it mark the sixth consecutive year that Fresenius has received our Safety in Excellence Award, but it marks the best reduction of the company’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration Lost Time Case Incidence Rate, as compared to each of the prior six years.”

Fresenius Medical Care AG is a provider of products and services for individuals undergoing dialysis because of chronic kidney failure, a condition that affects more than 1,300,000 individuals worldwide.
