Trio of Workers’ Comp Leaders Receive Donald T. DeCarlo ‘Legends’ Award at AMCOMP Event

AMCOMP’s Donald T. DeCarlo “Legends” Award was presented recently to three industry leaders at its Annual Meeting in Las Vegas. The Workers Comp Certified Professional (WCCP) award is presented annually to individuals who have distinguished themselves by their contributions to the workers’ compensation industry.

“AMCOMP established the WCCP “Legends” Award,” said Donald DeCarlo, Esq, Partner, Lord Bissell & Brook, and chairman and president of AMCOMP, “to recognize industry professionals whose achievements and special contributions to the workers compensation field set them apart as distinguished leaders.”

The 2004 honorees are Carole Banfield, vice president, Insurance Services Office (ISO): Kenneth Ross, executive director and CEO, New York State Insurance Fund (NYSIF); and Dr. Michael Stinziano, vice president, Benfield.

Banfield has more than 30 years of experience in the property/ casualty industry and has taken a leadership position in data management and government relations for ISO. Banfield is well known for her involvement in the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).

Stinziano is vice president of Benfield. He has extensive experience in the governmental arena and specializes in reinsurance administration, workers’ comp insurance, and terrorism risk insurance issues.

Ross is executive director and CEO of The New York State Insurance Fund. He has a wealth of knowledge of workers’ comp insurance and has more than 30 years of experience in the field. Most recently, Ross was recognized for his achievements by the New York Claim Association.

Since it was founded, AMCOMP has dedicated itself to the development of higher educational standards for professionals in the field. That goal was realized in 2001 with the introduction of the AMCOMP Workers Compensation Certified Professional (WCCP) designation.

The WCCP program establishes a foundation of knowledge of the various aspects of workers’ comp and how the various pieces of this discipline (such as law, claims handling, risk management, underwriting pricing) work together.
