ISO Bolsters All-Claims System By Adding Online Medical-Records Retrieval Service

March 3, 2003

Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) has bolstered its ISO ClaimSearch® services by adding the capability for customers to order and receive medical records on-line.

This optional service is available to ISO ClaimSearch customers through an agreement with MediConnect.net, Inc., a Utah-based technology company that uses proprietary technology to retrieve, digitize and deliver medical information electronically over a secure web connection.

ISO customers will now be able to electronically order and retrieve medical records, including x-ray reports and medical bills, directly over the ISO ClaimSearch Internet platform. While records are being retrieved, customers will also be able to use the ISO ClaimSearch website to view up-to-the-minute status of their requests.

“ISO ClaimSearch is committed to providing insurers, risk managers and other industry interests more value-added claims-handling services, while helping them to reduce costs and achieve greater economies of scale,” Richard Boehning, ISO senior vice president, commented.

“Providing customers the means to order, retrieve and download medical records is a natural extension of the functionality of our ISO ClaimSearch services. With this latest addition to our services, which already include police reports, criminal records and other public information, ISO ClaimSearch is now a true one-stop resource for claims professionals,” Boehning added.

The new service complies with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) provisions and other standards regarding the privacy and confidentiality of personal health information.
