Although the new Ohio law requires the Ohio Board of Building Standards to create rules for the use of classroom barricade devices, the rules have not been released yet. An advisory from the BBS was sent to all Ohio school districts and building/fire officials stating: “Schools are being cautioned against purchasing and deploying devices before the rules take effect as some devices currently on the market may not be allowable once new rules are adopted.” The hope is that the BBS’ rules will help to ensure that safety is not overlooking in the interest of inexpensive security.

They want “multiple layers of protection” except the most obvious. Let trained teachers, principals and other adults carry their firearms to work as they are the true first responders. Until we get over this unreasonable and irrational fear of arming law-abiding citizens, the kids will not be safe. Gun-free zones result in gun deaths. Proven fact.
