Concrete Chunks Fall From Bridge Near Ohio Tailgaters

Police say large chunks of concrete fell from an interstate support beam just blocks away from where Cincinnati Bengals fans were tailgating.

No one was injured, but a car was heavily damaged when concrete chunks fell on it Sunday afternoon near Paul Brown Stadium.

The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the concrete fell from a support beam for the exit ramp from the Brent Spence Bridge to downtown and Interstate 71.

A railroad track runs underneath the ramp next to the beam. Cincinnati police officer Ken Hall, who responded to the incident, thinks the vibration from the train tracks might have contributed to shaking the concrete loose.

The ramp is part of the transportation system surrounding the Brent Spence Bridge, which is scheduled to have an annual inspection beginning Monday.
