Minnesota Motorcycle Crashes Spike

June 9, 2014

The number of motorcycle fatalities and injuries have spiked in the past week in Minnesota.

The Department of Public Safety says five people on motorcycles were killed in the past week and 28 others have been injured.

The Star Tribune says four of the five riders killed in the past week were not wearing a helmet, a piece of safety equipment recommended by law enforcement, but not required in Minnesota.

Eleven motorcyclists have died in Minnesota this year, including two in the Twin Cities on Thursday.
