Officials in a western North Dakota county are fine-tuning their response plans for a possible oilfield accident.
Emergency management personnel and law enforcement from the county staged what was dubbed a “full-scale oil explosion exercise” on Saturday. It was based upon a simulated explosion of a hydrocarbon storage tank.
Dunn County Emergency Manager Denise Brew tells the Dickinson Press that the training is important because the chances of a similar disaster are “extremely high.”
Most of the exercise was conducted in the parking lot of the Dunn County Courthouse.
