A step in the right direction. This problem has been with us for decades for only one reason: the legal system is a joke and is afraid to stop pussy-footing around with drunks. If DUI was really a priority, the penalties would be severe. How many times have you read about some idiot who’s been busted more than 3 times and is still on the road? Pulling a piece of paper (license) is a joke. Want results? Here’s what will get them.

    1st offense – 3 days in jail; $1,000 fine.

2nd offense – 30 days in jail; $5,000 fine; notice to the auto insurance carrier so rates will increase.

3rd offensse – 6 mos. in jail; $10,000 fine; impound whatever vehicle was being driven even it wasn’t the drunks. Hold it in storage for 6 mos. with the drunk respsonsible for the storage charges.
