Nearly 13 Tons of Copper Stolen From North Dakota Business

Fargo, N.D., police are investigating the theft of about 26,000 pounds of copper valued at $112,000 from a Fargo business over the weekend.

The burglary was reported at Dakota Supply Group. It is the latest in a string of high-value copper thefts in the Fargo-Moorhead area in recent months.

Police also are investigating what type of truck would be needed to transport nearly 13 tons of copper and are working with state and federal authorities to get the word out about the stolen metal.

Copper is a target for thieves because it can bring high prices when sold as scrap metal.
