Omaha Man Gets Prison for Stealing Copper Wire

March 18, 2013

An Omaha, Neb., man has been given four to 12 years in prison for stealing copper wire from pivot irrigation systems in Dodge County.

The Fremont Tribune reports that 42-year-old Scott Mohr was sentenced on Thursday in Dodge County District Court. He’d been convicted of four counts of theft.

Prosecutor Oliver Glass asked Judge Geoffrey Hall to consider a long sentence because of Mohr’s criminal record and because of the hardship his thefts placed on farmers.

Mohr apologized in court and said he stole the wire so he could get money for methamphetamine.
