Michigan Utility Still Seeing Dog Bite Problems

September 5, 2012

Consumers Energy says it’s having more problems with dogs attacking its workers, including six in the past two weeks.

The unit of Michgan’s CMS Energy Corp. says Friday that it’s had a record 14 employees bitten by dogs so far this year, up from six bites all of last year.

The utility says this year’s attacks have resulted in injuries to five employees, up from three injuries in 2011.

The Jackson-based utility issued an appeal for the public’s help in April. It’s again asking people to make sure dogs are leashed or confined away from natural gas and electric meters.
