$77K Worth of Property Stolen from Kansas Storage Unit

January 6, 2012

Police in Salina, Kansas, are investigating another big theft from a commercial storage unit.

KSAL-AM reports that someone broke into the 12-by-35-foot unit between Dec. 23 and Tuesday by taking the door off its tracks.

The thief made off with an estimated $76,900 worth of goods, including two 77-inch flat-screen TVs still in boxes. Also taken were guns and a gun safe, jewelry, audio equipment, a savings bond and a coin collection.

In December, a Salina man lost an estimated $5,400 worth of property to a storage unit break-in. The big-ticket items in that case were a collection of 15,000 football, baseball and basketball cards valued at $3,000, and a $2,000 stamp collection.
