Charges: Arsonist Targeted Ex-Minnesota Viking’s Family

September 7, 2011

A 21-year-old man is charged with setting fire to an Apple Valley home where former Minnesota Viking Dave Osborn, his wife and four others were sleeping.

Osborn, his wife Beverly, their granddaughter and three other teenage girls got out safely. But the top half of the three-story house burned away.

Aaron Ferrarese is charged with first- and second-degree arson in the early Friday fire. The complaint says he told police he wanted the Osborns’ 19-year-old grandson “to feel some pain.”

The Star Tribune reports Osborn and his wife were house-sitting for their daughter when the arsonist hit. Osborn’s granddaughter and three other teens who are high school track captains also were staying in the house.

Ferrarese remains in jail. His attorney, David Warg, said Thursday he had no comment.
