6 People Hurt When Racehorse Jumps into Stands in Mo.

June 28, 2011

Six people are injured after a horse leaves the track and jumps into a crowd of spectators during a Hispanic rodeo in southeast Kansas City.

Police say none of the injuries were serious after the incident shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday at the Benjamin Ranch.

A police official says two horses were being ridden by jockeys when one of them went into the stands and struck several people.

Fire department ambulances took the injured spectators to an area hospital, where they were treated for minor injuries.

Ranch manager Bob Faulkner says the most serious injury appears to be a broken arm. He says the Hispanic rodeos are held every Sunday at the ranch.
