It’s possible that the Amish made the wooden MANTLES. They have nothing to do with electric heating unit that they had nothing to do with. Anyone stupid enough to think an electric space heater is going to lower their heating bills deserves whatever they get.
The so-called “Amish heaters” are overpriced and over-hyped. They are simple 1500-watt electrical resistance heaters dressed up in a wooden cabinet and promoted as an alleged means of greatly reducing space heating costs. Simple little space heaters that cost $50.00 or less produce just as much heat as the “Amish heaters,” which are priced in the $300.00 range or more. Using these kinds of space heaters for “zone heating” (i.e. greatly lowering the home thermostat setting while using the heater in one or a few rooms) could possibly reduce heating costs, but would not provide the same level of comfort as obtained from typically operation of central heating systems.
