The insurance industry says at least $17.2 million in damage was caused by the rash of tornadoes and wind storms that pounded Ohio on Sept. 16.
The Ohio Insurance Institute released a preliminary tally of insured losses on Oct. 19. Final numbers could show homeowners and businesses took a $20 million hit.
By comparison, the state had far larger insured losses of $1.4 billion from Hurricane Ike in September 2008.
